Underwater Observatory Park

Posted on June 6, 2022June 6, 2022 by Keryn Ross

Today started slow–I think we are all exhausted!–and that was okay. We lazed around, listening to music (my children mock my taste in music, but tough beans. If I’m the one cooking, I’m the one choosing the music). French toast is fast becoming our staple breakfast–it tastes good to everyone, and it’s easy to make with just a few ingredients. Yum and I had a mini-dance session out on the balcony (our favorite dancing song “Shut Up and Dance” came on), and we danced in the morning sunshine, looking over the Gulf of Aqaba.

Today we chose to go to the aquarium–the Underwater Observatory Park–and it was excellent. Well worth the price, although lunch was pretty expensive (as you might expect at such a place). Although we were only there less than six hours, we were pretty beat. The hot weather really saps your energy!

After a siesta, we attempted to find a beach open in the evening hours, and struck out. We really don’t do anything fast, including getting our swim gear on, and it got dark earlier than we had planned. So that’s on tomorrow morning’s agenda.

The rest of this post is just going to be a photo dump–I’m still so tired!

Even for a Vegas girl, this is was a warm day to spend half-outside.

Coral is so fascinating
I think manta rays are some of my favorite marine life.
I love that she still finds this fun.

We’re from the government, and we’re here to help.
Manta rays always look like they are having fun.

My favorite drink here: Mint lemonade.
I don’t entirely know what I had for lunch, but it was yummy. Rice, fries, and fish with tomatoes, plus some kind of couscous grain with nuts and dried fruit, lettuce, and eggplant? squash? (I didn’t like that one)
Me and my love

Yummy looks like she is about to eat that fish
Sea horses are so absurd. I love them.

The sign says “Push”. But you can’t push, you can only pull. 🤣

Desert + ocean is always so interesting to me!

Selfie time!
Waiting for Dad to come pick us up. (He took the Grandmas and Gee home two hours earlier for a rest.
I kinda love this shot.
