We knew from the start of planning this trip with five children (at the time, we were expecting to go when they were two years younger) that we would have to bake downtime into our agenda, or we would burn out completely within the first week. We decided that we would just have to plan to take some time to chill, nap, and not be on the run constantly. I’m so glad we decided that ahead of time, because I think we might have been disappointed with our need for rest.
Here in Eilat, we aren’t walking as many miles as in Jerusalem, but the sun and water sure saps your energy. Siestas and/or early evenings have been wonderful.
